Educational Resources

Not everyone can visit the Currency Museum in person, so we have developed easy-to-use programs that can be delivered right in your classroom or community. Our curriculum-based programs about currency and monetary policy are object-based and feature built-in team-building activities. Our extension programs can be used on their own or as preparation for a visit to the Currency Museum.

Be sure to keep checking back as we will be adding more educational materials in the months to come.

Museum in a bag - Musée en randonnée

Explore some of money’s fascinating stories!

Everyday people use different forms of currency, such as coins, bills, and credit cards.  What are the origins of our money?  What objects have other societies chosen to use as money in the past, and why?  What are the characteristics of a successful currency? Our Museum in a Bag program answers these questions… and more.

Money has played an influential role throughout history.  The Museum in a Bag program invites you to see and touch different and unusual currencies from other countries and times past, such as shells, beads, and tea bricks.

The Museum in a Bag program can be adapted for particular needs or interests.  Please inform us of any special requests when booking the Museum in a Bag program.
